Under general direction, to plan, organize, and direct a varied and complex departmental accounting program; to prepare a variety of complex accounting statistical, and narrative reports; to supervise directly and through subordinates a staff of clerical, paraprofessional, and professional subordinates; and to do related work as required. DISTINGUISHING FEATURES Positions in this class are assigned responsibility for the total fiscal record-keeping program of a department having extensive and varied accounting functions. They differ from positions in the lower class of Senior Accountant, in that incumbents of positions in the latter class carry responsibility for only a portion of a complex program or are entirely responsible for a much smaller activity, and do not supervise professional-level staff. Supervising Accountants supervise professional accountants and paraprofessional and clerical personnel. They receive guidance and an over-all evaluation of work results from top departmental administrative levels. |
