DESCRIPTION
|
Under general direction, plans, organizes, coordinates and directs the operations of the General Services Agency (GSA); acts as the Director, GSA in his/her absence when assigned; and performs related assignments as required.
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES The Chief Deputy of Operations is a single-position class reporting to the Director, GSA. This position serves as a member of the executive team and acts as the principal assistant to the Agency Director in operational matters. The Chief Deputy of Operations participates in strategic planning and assists in the development, implementation, and evaluation of GSA’s goals, initiatives, and policies. The Chief Deputy of Operations has responsibility for the Building Maintenance Department, Capital Programs, Logistics Services, and Space Development and Planning (Portfolio). This position may oversee various functional areas, programs, and services as assigned. |

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
|
Education:
Possession of a bachelor’s degree in business administration, public administration, or related field from an accredited college or university. AND Experience: The equivalent of eight (8) years of recent full-time increasingly responsible administrative, managerial, and fiscal/budgetary experience in operations, including planning, evaluation and implementation of building and general support services operations or capital programs. Five (5) years must include supervisory experience of professional staff. Desired education and experience: • A master’s degree in business administration, public administration, or related field from an accredited college or university is highly desirable. • Experience in the public sector is desirable. The following certification(s) are desirable: • Current certification as a Registered Professional Engineer in the State of California in either Civil, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering; or • Current certification as a Registered Architect in the State of California; or • Certification as a Registered Environmental Assessor in the State of California. License: Possession of a valid California Motor Vehicle Operator's license. NOTE: The Civil Service Commission may modify the above Minimum Qualifications in the announcement of an examination. |
