Under direction, incumbents of the class of Program Systems Coordinator act as liaison between end-users in their department and the Social Services Information Division and other information systems providers participating in the evaluation, planning, organization, design, modification and implementation of existing and new information systems by ensuring that program regulations are implemented and procedures are developed and meet functional requirements for end-users; and perform other duties as required.
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES This class is unique to the Information Systems Division of the Social Services Agency. The class of Program Systems Coordinator is distinguished from the next higher class of Senior Program Systems Coordinator in that the latter class supervises a unit of Program Systems Coordinators, and confers with the departmental information system analysts to determine the assignments of staff to Social Services Program areas. The former class is the journey level in this professional series acting as the departmental subject matter expert representative participating in the modification of existing systems and implementation of new systems by communicating Social Services Program knowledge to information systems professionals. This class series is further distinguished from the Information Systems Coordinator in that the latter must possess a broader and more technical knowledge of systems analysis and the hardware and software required for any automated information system; whereas the former class series ensures that the automated information system selected for implementation is fully functional for the end-users by utilizing their specialized knowledge of particular Social Services Programs. Also, the class series of Program Systems Coordinators is distinguished from the class series of Program Specialist in that the latter classifications provide program planning, technical assistance, review and evaluation functions to direct client service delivery programs where such services are provided by community-based organizations (CBO's), contract service providers and/or County staff. The class series of Program Systems Coordinators assist in the planning and implementation and maintenance of information systems which enable the end-users to provide services to their clients. |
