DESCRIPTION
|
Under general direction of executive management, develops, implements, and administers the external affairs programs in support of the Assessor’s Office communication, public policy, and engagement efforts. Conducts analysis on legislative and policy studies to make recommendations and assist with implementation and proposed operational changes and programs; plans, writes, develops, coordinates, and directs the Department’s fund development and grant management activities; represents the Assessor’s Office to external partners and members of the public; and performs related duties as required. DISTINGUISHING FEATURES This is a single position classification located in the Assessor’s Office. The Assessor’s External Affairs Manager reports to a member of the executive management staff including the Assessor and/or Chief Deputy Assessor. This position is responsible for overseeing the communications, external legislative policy, and fund development programs within the Assessor’s Office. Incumbents work independently and are involved in planning and facilitating the day to day implementation of a variety of external programs, studies, and projects. The incumbent supervises, manages, and coordinates the Public Relations Unit (PRU) and staff for the Alameda County Assessor's Office. |

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
|
Education: Possession of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. AND Experience: The equivalent of four (4) years of full-time professional-level experience in communications, public policy, fund development, external affairs, and/or a related field. Two (2) years of the required experience must have been in a supervisory capacity. Substitution: Four (4) years of additional professional experience may be substituted for the education requirement. A Master’s degree in a related field may be substituted for one (1) year of supervisory experience. Special Requirement: Incumbents may be required to attend activities in the evenings and/or on weekends.
