DESCRIPTION
|
Under close supervision to receive training and perform a variety of functions requiring initiative within basic clerical, maintenance, technical and manual areas in any department within the County and to do related work as assigned.
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES Incumbents in the class of Program Worker will receive on the job training in one of several areas that will give the employee work experience necessary to qualify for the examination of the class in which they are being trained. Incumbents may be assigned clerical, maintenance, technical, and manual duties with the expectation that they will acquire the necessary experience to provide them the opportunity to secure permanent County employment in the position where they acquired the necessary experience. Assignments will vary according to the specific position. |
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
|
NOTE: The following are the duties performed by employees in this classification. However, employees may perform other related duties at an equivalent level. Each individual in the classification does not necessarily perform all duties listed below.
1. Enters data and information from an established group of source documents, using standard references in a prescribed order and/or format into a database or computer system. 2. Plant, transplant, prune and care for trees, shrubs, and annual and perennial flowers. 3. Performs routine clerical tasks such as typing and filing, search and retrieves information on a data base system. 4. Loads and unloads delivery vehicles. Sorts, receives and prepares for shipment of library materials, supplies, mail and equipment. 5. Sweeps, mops, vacuums floors, dusts, washes walls using pressure washers; dusts and polishes wood surfaces; polishes metal fixtures; dusts books and files and cleans window coverings. 6. Computes and process bills; accepts payments and writes receipts and deposit slips. Performs other related routine cashiering duties. 7. Within an agency/department, assigned overall technical supply responsibility for all capital equipment; receives, stores, delivers, assembles, moves, inventories, and tracks capital equipment. 8. Empty incoming mail tubs, sort and separate the mail and correspondence for further distribution and deliver it to the designated locations on a scheduled route. 9. Drive a light van collecting mail, inter departmental correspondence, records and other material from County and other offices on a scheduled route. 10. May perform other related duties as assigned. |
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
|
Completion of an Alameda County Probation Department re-entry training program or from another re-entry program designed to provide job readiness and job skills training.
AND Must have been incarcerated and have a felony conviction. NOTE: The Civil Service Commission may modify the above Minimum Qualifications in the announcement of an examination. |
