DESCRIPTION
|
Under general supervision, to read, select specific data, code, and type from a wide variety of source documents in a prescribed format. Incumbents operate an electric typewriter adapted to the format of documents; and perform related work as required.
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES This is a specialized clerical class. Incumbents are responsible for reading a variety of source documents, and selecting specific information from the documents. Some of the information must be translated in order to generate the proper code before it is typed. The information after being typed is sent to Data Processing Center for reading by the scanner machine. Positions in this class require typing skill in addition to the ability to determine quickly and correctly formats and codes for each document. Accuracy is essential because the typed information results in the production of a permanent record. This class differs from the next lower class of Clerk II in that documents must be read to determine type of document, or type of action taking place before ascertaining the proper code, determining format, and then typing. The incumbents must be familiar with a wide variety of documents. |
