DESCRIPTION
|
Under direction to provide administrative, operational, procedural and organizational support services to the Department of Behavioral Health Care Services County-operated clinics; to plan and direct the activities of support staff involved in the provision of behavioral health services to clients; and to perform other related duties.
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES These positions are located in the Department of Behavioral Health Care Services. Incumbents serve as the support services manager overseeing the business management function for operations of singular or multiple clinical sites. |
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

1. Plans, oversees, reviews and personally performs a variety of administrative duties for County-operated clinics. 2. Acts as a liaison with clinical staff, clients, departmental administrative personnel, other county departments and the public. 3. Makes expenditure projections for the clinic’s budget; compiles figures, reviews reports and prepares internal reports. 4. Coordinates purchasing activities; acts as liaison with County Purchasing; researches purchases and makes recommendations; ensures that proper funds are debited and invoices approved; performs follow up with vendors as required. 5. Interprets and applies a variety of policies, rules and regulations; provides information which may require tact and independent judgment to employees and others. 6. Performs such administrative tasks as modifying policies and procedures, acting as the Clinic’s automation coordinator, and coordinating activities of the unit with other departments. 7. Supervises the work of the clinic’s support staff, plans assigns and reviews work; trains staff in work procedures; recommends selection and disciplinary actions. 8. Prepares a variety of correspondence, periodic and special reports and other written materials; may access various databases or use information from various sources to prepare such materials. 9. Serves as site manager for building operations, maintenance and repairs, housekeeping and janitorial services and security contracts. 10. Serves as the clinic’s representative on various committees and task forces. 11. Operates a variety of standard office equipment including a computer; may drive a County vehicle to attend meetings. |
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Either I
Experience: The equivalent of one year full-time experience in the class of Administrative Specialist I in the Alameda County classified service. Or II Experience: The equivalent of three years of increasingly responsible administrative support experience in a medical clinic setting, of which, one year must have been in a supervisory capacity. (Possession of a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in business, health care administration or public administration may substitute for two years of the required experience.) License: Specified positions may require possession of a valid California Motor Vehicle Operator’s license. NOTE: The Civil Service Commission may modify the above Minimum Qualifications in the announcement of an examination. |
