Under supervision, incumbents are assigned a variety of general clerical and/or administrative duties to fill in for various temporary needs countywide.
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES Administrative Support I, (SAN) TAP, is a specialized clerical class. Incumbents of positions in this class perform duties requiring the exercise and initiative and judgement significantly beyond that of the entry-level class of Clerk I. Administrative Support II (SAN) TAP requires a more thorough knowledge of broad and complex procedures, systems, rules, codes and policies in order to perform assigned duties. This class consists of positions that are filled on a temporary basis through the Alameda County Temporary Assignment Pool (TAP) Program. TAP employees are provisional, services-as-needed (SAN) employees of the Human Resource Services Department under the TAP program. TAP is responsible for placing incumbents on temporary assignments within departments and agencies. Assignments may vary from a minimum of four hours and generally not exceed 18 months. Duties and pay rate may vary based on the job classification of each temporary assignment. The Administrative Support I, (SAN) TAP differs from the Administrative Support II, (SAN) TAP in that the former is designated as a 75-hour class and the latter is designated as an 80-hour class. |
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

NOTE: The following are the duties performed by employees in this classification. However, employees may perform other related duties at an equivalent level. Each individual in the classification does not necessarily perform all duties listed. 1. Acts as receptionist, greeting and assisting visitors and callers by referring them to sources of information, distributing forms and explaining their completion, and answering requests for information by consulting various available sources; may operate a multi-line telephone system. 2. Enters data and information from an established group source documents, using standard references in a prescribed order/and or format into a database or computer system. 3. Orders and maintains office supplies, receives and charges our supplies; ensures supplies are kept in a secure place and available to staff. 4. May perform general office clerical functions, including by not limited to copying, faxing, printing, and may act as a relief receptionist. 5. Checks in and sorts materials using a computer terminal, automated materials handling system, or other equipment. 6. Maintains accurate records and files related to work performed. 7. Reviews case information through a variety of computer systems and provides information to clients and customers based on that information. 8. Establishes and maintains effective work relationships with those contacted in the performance of required duties. |
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

The equivalent of six months of full-time clerical experience.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

Knowledge of:
• Modern office practices and procedures. • Word processing/computer applications and techniques (i.e., Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access). • Basic elements of correct English usage, grammar, spelling and punctuation. • Numerical and alphabetical filing systems. • Proper telephone etiquette and procedures.
