DESCRIPTION
Under supervision, to do routine clerical work; to assist full-time clerical personnel during peak workload periods; and to do related work as required.

DISTINGUISHING FEATURES

This class is composed of positions that are filled intermittently as required by workload. Positions may be filled for a few days or a few weeks at a time, and persons filling them may be asked to report for work or may be laid off from work on relatively short notice. The Clerk Intermittent II class differs from the class of Clerk Intermittent I in that it is designated for Clerk Intermittent I’s who were above the third step of the salary range on June 30, l973. It should be noted that the class of Clerk Intermittent II will cover only those employees who previously have been designated and will not be used for promotion or demotion from any other classes. The class will exist until such time that positions are vacated by attrition.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
NOTE: The following are the duties performed by employees in this classification. However, employees may perform other related duties at an equivalent level. Each individual in the classification does not necessarily perform all duties listed.

1. Assists public at counter and on telephone and provides routine factual information.

2. Posts data; assists in proofreading, filing and typing.

3. Sorts bills, cards, correspondence and various forms.

4. Supplies inserting machine with materials for stuffing envelopes.

5. Checks records, papers, and registrations for inaccuracies and omissions.

6. May handle heavy bundles such as ballots, affidavits, tally sheets, or other election material.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Experience

The equivalent of six months of general clerical experience.

NOTE: The Civil Service Commission may modify the above Minimum Qualifications in the announcement of an examination.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
NOTE: The level and scope of the following knowledge and abilities are related to duties listed under the “Examples of Duties” section of this specification.

Knowledge of:

· Standard office methods and equipment.

Ability to:

· Perform routine clerical work and quickly learn the specific office operations.
· Understand and follow oral and written directions.
· Establish and maintain cooperative relations with fellow employees and with the public.
