DESCRIPTION

DEFINITION:
Under general supervision, provides assistance and support for all personal computer and network issues, including effective detection, capture, resolution and analysis of service disruptions. DISTINGUISHING FEATURES: Personal Computer and Network Systems Specialist, ACERA is a professional-level classification in which the incumbent is responsible for the installation and maintenance of chosen personnel computer and network systems, and related projects and duties as assigned. This class differs from the higher level class of Personal Computer and Network Services Analyst in that the latter has overall responsibility for all departmental computer activities. |
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
|
NOTE: The following are the duties performed by employees in this classification. However, employees may perform other related duties at an equivalent level. Each individual in the classification does not necessarily perform all duties listed.
1. Installs and troubleshoots various computer hardware, software and network designs for ACERA staff; resolves critical and routine user problems to maintain workflow integrity; installs or updates ACERA spreadsheet applications to ensure highest efficiency. 2. Assists with policy and procedure development for network designs using manufacturers’ literature and user input. 3. Installs computer hardware and software products to maintain maximum department effectiveness. 4. Assists with projects for Retirement, Investments or Accounting departments. 5. Trains department personnel in the use of computer software and hardware. 6. Responsible for email administration throughout ACERA, coordinating vendors and providing user support. 7. Maintain accurate hardware and software inventory documentation and software license documentation. 8. Interface with independent contractors and department staff to accomplish tasks. |
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EITHER I
Experience: The equivalent of one year full-time experience in the class of information Systems Specialist in the Alameda County classified service, or an equivalent or higher information systems classification in the Alameda county service. OR II Experience: The equivalent of two years of full-time experience in developing and maintaining local area networks, one year of which must have included developing and/or modifying computer applications and Help Desk experience. Familiarity with financial and pension administration software highly desired. NOTE: The Civil Service Commission may modify the above Minimum Qualifications in the announcement of an examination. |
