DESCRIPTION
|
Under general direction, to plan, organize and direct the work of one or more units within the Alameda County Department of Child Support Services (ACDCSS); to train Child Support Caseworkers and/or related support staff in the more complex aspects of child support case management; to supervise, directly or through subordinates, Child Support Caseworkers or related staff; and to perform other related duties as assigned.
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES These classes are located in the Alameda County Department of Child Support Services. They are involved in the supervision of one or more units of professional child support and /or related staff involved in management of child support cases for Alameda County. Positions in these classes differ from those in the Child Support Caseworker series in that this class requires supervisory and unit organization skills and abilities; also, incumbents in the Child Support Supervisor do not carry a regular child support caseload. This class provides supervision to Child Support Caseworkers and/or related support Staff. Incumbents direct a small unit of 6 but no less than 3 full-time employees; or assist the Child Support Supervisor II in the direction of a larger unit, including: on-the-job training; reviewing work in progress and completed assignments of subordinate staff; assisting staff with the more difficult or complex child support problems; and preparing or making recommendations for performance appraisals and other personnel actions. |
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

NOTE: The following are the duties performed by employees in this classification. However, employees may perform other related duties at an equivalent level. Each individual in the classification does not necessarily perform all duties listed. 2. Analyzes problem cases to determine the most effective means of efficient collection. 3. Maintains written reports and records indicating the production of all personnel in the unit. Responsible for maintaining set production levels. 4. Maintains accurate attendance, performance, training, and emergency contact records for all personnel in the unit. 5. Holds regular staff meetings and/or training sessions to keep personnel informed of any procedural and or regulatory changes involving their work. 6. Conducts training assessments; develops, coordinates, and delivers one-on-one and group training to staff. Monitors training effectiveness. 7. Handles any complaints concerning staff or cases assigned to the team. 8. Approves and denies absences and vacation time. 9. Conducts periodic employee performance reviews. 10. Establishes goals and expectations for self and direct reports 11. Makes recommendations for hiring and disciplinary actions and works closely with upper management and administration on all performance and conduct issues. 12. Audits child support case records for adherence to approved processes; monitors program statistics; prepares and/or implements recommendations based on findings of child support case record audits. |
