DESCRIPTION
Under direction, plans, develops, coordinates, and directs activities in fund development and grant management: provides analytical and technical assistance in the Library Foundation strategic planning of activities to financially build and sustain library programs and services; and to perform other related duties as assigned.

DISTINGUISHING FEATURES

This single professional position is located in the Alameda County Library and reports directly to the Foundation Director. The Library Fund Development and Grant Specialist provides budget development from public/private funding sources and serves as an advisor to the Library Foundation Director and management staff on fund development and grant management.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
NOTE: The following are the duties performed by employees in this classification. However, employees may perform other related duties at an equivalent level. Each individual in the classification does not necessarily perform all duties listed.

1. Provides analytical and technical assistance in the Library Foundation strategic planning and implementation of activities to financially build and sustain library programs and services.
2. Plans, develops, coordinates, and directs activities in fund development and grant management.
3. Coordinates cultivation efforts of individual donors, including mail campaigns, personal visits, fund raising events, and relevant publications.
4. Prepares and processes grant proposals; coordinates the grant application process with the funder and relevant library managers.
5. Assists in the preparation of contract and grant agreements; monitors grant agreements for compliance; and assists with the development of an accountability system, evaluation measures and reporting requirements.
6. Assists in the development and implementation of individual donor campaigns.
7. Serves as liaison to potential funders including the Library Foundation, community organizations, governmental agencies, and the branch libraries.
8. Interprets and applies a variety of policies, rules and regulations; provide information which may require tack and judgment,
9. Conducts presentations to the Library Foundation Board, Department Head, potential funders, key supporters, and community stakeholders.
10. Attends and participates in a variety of meetings and committees.
11. Operates a variety of standard office equipment including work related computer systems and technology; may drive a County or personal vehicle to make site visits and attend meetings.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education:

Possession of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in business administration, or public administration, or a field related to the work. (Two years of additional experience as outlined above may be substituted for the education requirement.)

AND
Experience:

The equivalent of one year of full-time professional-level experience in fund development and/or experience in grants management.

License:

Possession of a valid California Motor Vehicle Operator’s License
