DESCRIPTION

Under general direction, to plan, direct and manage the activities of one or a combination of the major functions of the Information Technology Department (ITD). The Senior Technical Services Director is responsible for overseeing the successful delivery of all services under their assigned section(s) from kickoff to closeout, including determining scope details and monitoring the progress to ensure it conforms to customer expectations and contractual agreements. Incumbents are also responsible for the supervision and performance evaluation of staff; coordination of subordinate activities with other senior managers in the department, ensuring the consistency of goals, policies, technical and administrative procedures and management direction; and performs other related work as required. DISTINGUISHING FEATURES Positions in the classification of Senior Technical Services Director have full responsibility for the activities and projects of assigned sections. General direction is received from the Chief Information Officer (CIO), Chief Technology Officer (CTO), or Assistant Chief Information Officer (Assistant CIO). Positions in the classification of Senior Technical Services Director differ from those in the middle management classes in that the Senior Technical Services Director has direct management responsibility over several subordinate functional areas, including responsibility for the overall planning, direction and coordination of activities. This classification is further distinguished from the next higher classification of Assistant CIO and CTO in that the latter act in the absence of the CIO. |

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
|
EITHER I Experience: The equivalent of two (2) years in the class of Technical Services Director or Infrastructure Services Manager in the Alameda County service. OR II Experience: The equivalent of seven (7) years of recent full-time, increasingly responsible experience in technology services including at least four (4) years of supervisory experience, two (2) years of which must have been as a senior manager of a large professional staff of engineers and analysts in a large technology environment.
