DESCRIPTION

This flexibly-staffed class series specification describes the journey-level classification in the Librarian series. Under general supervision, provides professional services for library members and assists in the operation of a library. Librarians II may be assigned to public services or technical services. Also performs related work as required.
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES
This is the journey-level classification in the Librarian flex series located in the County Library. Librarian II performs more challenging reference work than Librarian I and may have responsibility for the direction and day-to-day operation of a program of service in a library. Librarian II also provides operational support and guidance during times when a manager is unavailable.
Librarian II is also distinguished from Librarian III in that the latter is responsible for working in a specialized area with a high degree of expertise, while the former is more responsible for providing day-to-day journey-level library support in county libraries.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
|
EITHER I
Experience:
The equivalent of one (1) year full-time experience in the classification of Librarian I in the Alameda County Library system.
OR II
Education:
Possession of a master’s degree in library science.
AND
Experience:
The equivalent of one (1) year full-time, professional library experience.
