Under close supervision, assists in and performs work in support of an assigned professional field such as, but not limited to, accounting, administration, communications, environmental science, finance, human resources, integrated planning, legislative advocacy, purchasing, operations, maintenance, or related field and performs related work as required. NOTE: The following are the duties performed by employees in this classification. However, employees may perform other related duties at an equivalent level. Each individual in the classification does not necessarily perform all duties listed. 2. Assists staff in performing a variety of public outreach and community relations activities, special events, and public awareness programs for the distribution of information regarding Zone 7 environmental activities, operations, policies, and procedures. 3. Assists staff in working with community groups, neighborhood communities, businesses, and civic leaders to assure their understanding of Zone 7 policies and operations. 4. Assists staff in obtaining information for use in advocacy on legislative issues and in the researching and data gathering required to develop background materials regarding Zone 7 sponsored legislation; researches documents prepared by other agencies of interest to Zone7. 6. Assists staff in preparing and researching funding opportunities and writing grant proposals in order to secure funding. 7. Learns how to assist staff in developing, preparing, and administering a variety of employment tests including oral, written, performance assessment, and other selection tools to determine the qualifications of job applicants. 8. Learns how to collect and evaluate position specific information in conducting classification studies; assists in conducting and responding to salary and fringe benefit surveys. 9. Assists staff in collecting and analyzing budgetary information regarding revenues, expenditures, and rates; assists in the preparation of associated reports and recommendations. 10. Assists staff in reviewing, and checking requisitions for accuracy; analyzes the request in terms of amount budgeted, needs of the section, market conditions, and products available. 11. Assists staff in expediting purchase orders, arranging schedules for shipping and delivery; follows up on contracts and orders, and arranges for change orders as required. 12. Assists staff in developing clerical procedures, forms, systems, etc., to meet department needs; creates, organizes and maintains various agency files, records, and resource materials. 13. Assists staff in documentation, data entry, uploads and performing other necessary update tasks for the Agency’s various computer database programs. 14. Performs other duties as assigned. |
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
|
Education:
Completion of one year at an accredited college or university (the equivalent of 30 semester units or 45 quarter units). Licenses: Possession of a valid California Driver’s license is desirable. NOTE: The Civil Service Commission may modify the above Minimum Qualifications in the announcement of an examination. |
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
