DESCRIPTION
|
Under the direction of the General Manager or Assistant General Manager, to plan, organize, direct and review the activities and operations of Water Resources/Watersheds, including planning and programs for watershed stewardship, flood control, water supply, groundwater, water transmission, storage, and distribution facilities and related technical support activities such as information technology program; to coordinate assigned activities with other sections and outside agencies; and performs other related work as required. DISTINGUISHING FEATURES This position has responsibility for the quality, quantity, and timeliness of all work in Water Resources/Watersheds within Zone 7. The incumbent provides complex administrative support to the General Manager or Assistant General Manager; exercises direct supervision over management, professional, technical, and clerical personnel; analyzes and acts on major problems. The Water Resources Manager, Zone 7, is distinguished from the Principal Engineer/Geologist and the Groundwater Resources Manager, in that the former is responsible for the agency-wide planning and programs, whereas the latter are responsible for program management within their respective unit. |

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
|
EITHER I Experience: The equivalent of two (2) years of full-time experience in the class of Principal Engineer/Geologist, Zone 7, Groundwater Resources Manager, Zone 7, or equivalent or higher-level class in the Alameda County classified service. OR II Education: Possession of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Civil Engineering, Geology, Planning, Economics, Public Administrations, Environmental Science or a closely related field. AND Experience: The equivalent of five (5) years of full-time, senior management experience performing professional water resource planning functions, with at least two (2) years of supervisory experience. License or Certificate: Possession of a valid California Driver’s License. Special Requirements: Must be willing and able to work in areas where there is exposure to chemical, mechanical and electrical hazards, and outdoors in all weather conditions. May be required to respond to off-hour emergencies. NOTE: The Civil Service Commission may modify the Minimum Qualifications in the announcement of an examination. |
