DESCRIPTION
|
Under general direction of the Agency Director, this position leads all of the Health Care Services Agency’s (HCSA) healthcare compliance initiatives, including the design, development, implementation, and ongoing monitoring of an effective compliance and privacy program; ensures all appropriate controls and processes required to comply with federal and state healthcare and privacy regulations are in place. The Chief Compliance and Privacy Officer will build and maintain a culture of compliance integrated in all aspects of business and clinical operations across the organization, and performs other duties as assigned.
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES
This is a single-class position located in the Agency Administration Division within the Health Care Services Agency (HCSA) and reporting to the Agency Director. The Chief Compliance and Privacy Officer serves as the Director of HCSA Office of Compliance Services (OCS) and oversees the work of designated compliance and privacy team members. The incumbent will be responsible for all aspects of planning, developing, and administering health care compliance and health information privacy and security programs for the entire agency.
The Chief Compliance and Privacy Officer is distinguished from the lower level classification of Compliance and Privacy Officer in that the former has overall supervision, planning, administrative, and policy development responsibilities while the latter is responsible for providing professional non-supervisorial support in the work of compliance and policy.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
|
Education:
Possession of a master’s degree from an accredited university or college in health care administration, business or public administration, public health, social welfare, or a closely related field.
AND
Experience:
The equivalent of seven (7) years of full-time, professional level experience in regulatory compliance or privacy, health care administration, quality assurance, or fiscal operations in a health care setting; two (2) years of which must have included supervision or lead responsibility.
License/Certification:
Possession of a valid California Motor Vehicle Operator’s license. Possession of a Healthcare Compliance Certificate issued by the Healthcare Compliance Association’s Certification Board.
