EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
|
NOTE: The following are the duties performed by employees in this classification. However, employees may perform other related duties at an equivalent level. Each individual in the classification does not necessarily perform all duties listed. 2. Administers grant distribution and budgets, including grant management activities, cost allocation planning, contract negotiations with providers; acts in absence of the Director. 3. Reviews and approves all contract documents and purchase orders for the Department of Adult and Aging services. 4. Ensures compliance with the Federal Older Americans Act, the State Older Californians Act, and County procurement standards and policies; acts as liaison with Auditor-Controller and the California Department of Aging and Federal Administration on Aging and the Federal Department of Labor. 5. Responsible for program funding priorities, policy development and service delivery. 6. Oversees program services delivered by the Area Agency on Aging, the Public Guardians Office and Adult Services through community partnerships. 7. Evaluates the work of staff to ensure quality implementation of programs, and that resources are used effectively. 8. Oversees compliance with the Older Americans Act, the Older California Act and the Department of Labor rules and regulations. 9. Coordinates with State and Federal audits, monitoring visits. Responds to findings and recommendations and implements corrective actions when necessary. 10. Oversees staff, program and administrative operations of the Veterans Services Office. Staffs and manages the Veterans Commission and ensures program direction and goals, meets needs of county veteran community. 11. Directs activities of professional staff, and subordinate supervisors. 13. Functions as a point person for all State board communications and manages the Aging Commission. 14. Responsible for the LAN administration for the Department of Adult and Aging Services. |
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Experience:
Either I The equivalent of four years of full-time experience as a Program/Financial Specialist, or an equivalent or higher level classification in the Area Agency on Aging Department in the Social Services Agency. (Possession of a bachelor's degree in a social service field may be substituted for two years of the required experience; a master's degree in a social service field may be substituted for three years of the required experience.) Or II The equivalent of six years' full-time experience at least at the first-line supervisor level in a human/social services agency (possession of a bachelor's degree in a social service field may be substituted for three years of the required experience; a master's degree in a Social Services field may be substituted for four years of the required experience). NOTE: The Civil Service Commission may modify the above Minimum Qualifications in the announcement of an examination. |
