DESCRIPTION
Under general direction, to oversee the administrative responsibility of the Juvenile Network Project, which includes developing funding proposals and community support for the youth referred to the program.

DISTINGUISHING FEATURES

This is a single-position class. This position receives direction from the Chief Probation Officer and Assistant Chief Probation Officer. The incumbent oversees the delivery of a variety of services to youth and their families; counsels at-risk and delinquent youth; contacts donors soliciting donations for and participation into the rehabilitation of youthful offenders; assists in implementing yearly court conferences on youth and delinquency; assists in the planning of policies and strategies employed by the department to curb youth offensive behavior; develops revenue sources; fund raising; networking with foundations, corporations and companies.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
NOTE: The following are the duties performed by employees in this classification. However, employees may perform other related duties at an equivalent level. Each individual in the classification does not necessarily perform all duties listed.

1. Developing fund-raising ideas and proposals.

2. Meeting with various representatives from private industry to request direct services or in-kind contributions to help disadvantaged youth.

3. Coordinating the pick-up and delivery of donated food, clothing, and supplies.

4. Visiting homes, and interviewing and evaluating clients' needs for services.

5. Maintaining records on community referrals.

6. Meeting with staff of the Courts and Social Services departments to discuss new referrals to the program.

7. Arranging for transportation of youth to community resources.

8. Attending various meetings and workshops to keep abreast of resources available to youth.

9. Preparing written and statistical reports for the court.

10. Recruiting Advisory Board Members.

11. Supervising staff when necessary.

12. Participating in the design, planning and implementation of training programs; community collaboration/outreach techniques.

13. Networking with foundations, corporations and companies.

14. Coordinating and participating with management team to develop revenue sources.

15. Managing a nonprofit board, its membership, policies and procedures and fund raising.

16. Performing other duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education:

Graduation from a four-year college or university with a degree in sociology, counseling, public administration or closely related field.

And

Experience:

The equivalent of one year of full-time management/supervisory experience working with high-risk youth. Job development and counseling experience required. Two additional years of experience may be substituted for the required education up to two years.
