DESCRIPTION

Under general supervision, strips, waxes, refinishes and shampoos various types of floors in an assigned area in a secure, 24/7 detention facility (Juvenile Justice Center and Santa Rita Jail); may also be assigned to general janitorial duties; and performs related duties as required. DISTINGUISHING FEATURES The classification of Janitor Floor Specialist, Detention Facilities is located in the General Services Agency, working in the county detention facility and reporting to a Janitor Supervisor II. The class of Janitor Floor Specialist, Detention Facilities is distinguished from Lead Janitor, Detention Facilities in that the latter class has lead responsibility for a group of janitorial staff in detention facilities in addition to performing janitorial work. The class of Janitor Floor Specialist, Detention Facilities differs from the Janitor, Detention Facilities classification in that the latter specializes in floor care. The class of Janitor Floor Specialist, Detention Facilities is distinguished from Janitor, Floor Specialist in that the former reports to a supervisor who oversees a secure, 24/7 detention facility and may be assigned to that type of detention facility. |

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
|
EITHER I Experience: The equivalent of six months of full-time experience in the class of Janitor or Janitor, Detention Facilities in the Alameda County classified service. OR II Experience: The equivalent of six months of full-time janitorial floor care experience that included carpet, tile or finished concrete. OR III Experience: The equivalent of six months of full-time janitorial experience in offices or an institution and completion of floor care training.
License: A valid California Motor Vehicle Operator’s license. Special Requirement: Must be able to obtain and maintain security clearance. May be assigned to work day, evening, night and rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays.
