DESCRIPTION
|
Under supervision leads the work activities of Food Service Workers within the Probation Department kitchen areas; performs routine work involved in food preparation, cooking, delivery and serving; cleans and keeps kitchen, serving, dining areas, and equipment in orderly condition; and performs related work as required.
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES The work of Senior Food Service Workers is supervised by the Food and Support Services Manager. This class is distinguished from the next higher level of Food and Support Services Manager in that the latter has full first-line supervisory responsibilities for total food service operations, full-time oversight of laundry services and the purchasing associated with those operations. |
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

NOTE: The following are the duties performed by employees in this classification. However, employees may perform other related duties at an equivalent level. Each individual in the classification does not necessarily perform all duties listed. 2. Orients, trains, supervises and assists in the evaluation of Food Service Workers; instructs new food service workers in use, care and maintenance of equipment and supplies; may keep records on foods and supply inventory and employee attendance. 3. Supervises sanitation and housekeeping procedures, maintaining health and safety standards for food preparation and service; buses and washes dishes and does general cleaning. 4. May review deliveries and check receipts against orders; may check supplies in refrigeration. 5. May prepare food for meetings and special events. 6. Supervises and helps set up meals; prepares trays for special diets and labels trays for specific youth in custody. |
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Either I Experience: The equivalent of one year of experience in the class of Food Service Worker in the Alameda County classified service. (Non-classified includes District Attorney’s Office, Hospital Authority, and the Consolidated Courts.) Or II Experience: |
