DESCRIPTION
|
Under general direction, this position performs sub-professional childcare services and child development duties; leads child development and child-appropriate education activities for children in various age ranges; may coordinate and lead freelance or contracted childcare providers; and performs other duties as assigned within the classification.
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES
This position is a single-position classification located in the Health Care Services Agency (HCSA) within the Maternal Paternal and Adolescent Health of the Public Health Services Department. The incumbent is responsible for coordinating and providing childcare and child development services for children of HCSA program participants; assisting program staff with administering Age & Stages Questionnaires (ASQs); supporting learning through play; and offering a safe, developmental-appropriate space for children as their parents/guardians participate in HCSA programming.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
|
Education:
Possession of a high school diploma or possession of an acceptable equivalency certificate, such as the General Educational Development Certificate (State of California).
AND
Experience:
Four (4) years of full-time work experience working with children in a licensed childcare center or in a qualified license-exempt program.
Substitution:
An associate’s degree from an accredited college in early childhood education or child development may substitute for two (2) years of the work experience.
License/Certificate:
Possession of a valid Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers certificate, which includes pediatric CPR and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) training.
Possession of a valid California Motor Vehicle Operator's license.
Special Requirement:
Care Provider Management Bureau clearance
Child Abuse Central Index Check (CACI)
Out-of-State Child Abuse Check (OSCA)
May be asked to handle objects up to 50 lbs.
