DESCRIPTION
|
Under direction, to assume full operational responsibility for the Alameda County Regional Emergency Communication Center(ACRECC) on an assigned shift; to investigate and resolve service or personnel-related complaints; to serve as a dispatcher as necessary; to perform related work as required.
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES This position is located in the ACRECC at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL), a federally secured Department of Energy (DOE) facility. This position requires candidates meet DOE security clearance. Fire Dispatch Supervisors work as shift supervisors in the ACRECC where they supervise dispatch personnel. This position works various shifts, holidays and weekends. This class differs from the next lower class of Fire Dispatcher at ACRECC by having supervisory administrative responsibility for a shift. Fire Dispatch Supervisors report to the Fire Dispatch Manager. |
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
|
NOTE: The following are the duties performed by employees in this classification. However, employees may perform other related duties at an equivalent level. Each individual in the classification does not necessarily perform all duties listed.
1. Supervises dispatcher personnel by both observation and monitoring of radio and telephone circuits utilized by such personnel. 2. Trains new personnel in proper complaint taking/dispatching procedures and methods. 3. Conducts training classes as required for personnel of using agencies. 4. Investigates and resolves service or personnel-related complaints. 5. Assigns, reviews and evaluates work performance of assigned personnel. 6. Recommends on hiring, disciplining, and terminating assigned personnel. 7. Calls off duty personnel needed for emergency services. 8. Keeps familiar with major roads, streets, industrial/public plants and buildings. 9. Reports the need for repair on assigned equipment. 10. Oversees the maintenance of complete radio logs. 11. Compiles and prepares detailed reports on activities during the shift worked. 12. Disseminate information to Emergency Operation Centers, Department Operation Centers and Incident Commanders within the Fire Operational Area. |
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EITHER I Experience: The equivalent of three years of experience in the class of Dispatcher in the ACRECC. OR II Experience: The equivalent of four years of full-time journey-level dispatching experience with a public safety agency. OR III Experience: The equivalent of three years of experience as a Dispatcher Supervisor with a public safety agency. AND Education: Graduation from high school in the United States or possession of an acceptable equivalency certificate, such as the General Educational Development Certificate. License: All candidates must possess a valid California State Motor Vehicle Operator's license. Special Requirements: Candidates must pass a psychological evaluation, a medical examination and a thorough background evaluation after an offer of employment is made. This position is located in the ACRECC at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory which requires DOE security clearance. Any felony conviction will result in disqualification. Candidates must be US citizens. NOTE: The Civil Service Commission may modify the above Minimum Qualifications in the announcement of an examination. |
