DESCRIPTION
|
Under general direction, this position is responsible for coordinating agency-wide policy review and analysis with the Sheriff’s Oversight Body; supporting the department’s strategic planning efforts; leading the development and outlining of an implementation strategy for complex departmental initiatives and programs; and performing related duties as required.
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES
This is a single-position classification located in the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office and reports to the Sheriff. The incumbent will support various programs and monitor the agency’s overall response to county policy changes, along with conducting best practice reviews and policy analysis. The Chief Policy and Strategic Officer, Sheriff’s Office classification acts as a liaison with the Sheriff’s Oversight Body and works in collaboration with the Sheriff’s Office's major divisions, programs, and units as well as other external county partners and community stakeholders.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
|
Education:
Possession of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in social welfare, planning, public administration, public policy, criminal justice, or a closely related field.
AND
Experience:
The equivalent of six (6) years of increasingly responsible full-time, professional-level experience in policy analysis and creation, planning, or evaluation of the delivery of criminal justice-related programs and services in a public safety agency, government agency, social planning, or community organization.
Substitution:
Possession of a master’s degree in social welfare, planning, public administration, public policy, or a closely related field may be substituted for two (2) years of the required experience.
