This flexibly-staffed class series specification describes the entry level of the Audio Visual (AV) classification series. Incumbents of this classification, under general supervision, performs maintenance and installation of a wide range of video conferencing and integrated multimedia equipment in the County’s boardrooms and meeting rooms; provides analysis and technical support in the design, implementation, and maintenance of audio visual and related systems; and performs related work as required. DISTINGUISHING FEATURES This flexibly-staffed class series specification describes two levels of the Audio Visual series classifications located in the Information Technology Department (ITD). Audio Visual Engineers report to an Infrastructure Services Manager. Incumbents provide support to the Senior AV Engineer and are responsible for performing duties of an analytical and technical nature relating to the design, support and maintenance of AV and related systems, and projects within those systems. The class of AV Engineer is distinguished from the Senior AV Engineer in that the latter is responsible for the planning of AV system designs and enterprise solutions and provides lead direction on projects while the former focuses on analysis and technical support for equipment, related software, and video conference meetings. The AV Engineer is further distinguished from the Senior AV Engineer in that the latter has the responsibility to function as a lead over the former by directing and overseeing their work. AV Engineer is expected to flexibly promote to the higher level class of Senior AV Engineer upon a positive performance evaluation and successful demonstration of proficiency to perform the duties of the higher level classification. |

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
|
EITHER I Education: Possession of 90 quarter units or 60 semester units, in which 20 quarter units or 14 semester units are in audio engineering, media production, or another related field. OR II Experience: The equivalent of two (2) years of full-time experience in audio visual or multimedia, and video conferencing experience. License/Certifications:
