DESCRIPTION
|
Under general supervision, to perform preventive mechanical and electronic maintenance and repair work on automatic guided vehicle (AGV) systems; and to perform other related duties.
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES
Positions in the class of Automatic Guided Vehicle Technician are located in the General Services Agency's Building Maintenance Department at the Santa Rita Jail facility. This class is distinguished from the class of Building Equipment Maintenance Worker in that the latter class performs the maintenance and repair of plumbing fixtures, heating, ventilating, refrigeration and electrical equipment, while the class of AGV Technician performs the maintenance and repair on the material handling vehicle system.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
|
NOTE: The following are the duties performed by employees in this classification. However, employees may perform other related duties at an equivalent level. Each individual in the classification does not necessarily perform all duties listed.
1. Maintains and repairs AGVs, and associated electronic, computer and mechanical equipment through use of standard preventive maintenance practices, proper use of industry standard test equipment, and operating heavy automated machinery.
2. Keeps constant check on wiring components and mechanical devices through use of multi-meters, oscilloscopes and other accurate measuring devices.
3. Maintains system using Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) and Human Machine Interface (HMI) along with Wi-Fi.
4. Repairs, troubleshoots and replaces as needed printed circuit boards and electronic components as well as the network for the AGV Systems.
5. Maintains and repairs guide paths, which involve cutting, drilling, patching of concrete sidewalks and floors.
6. Repairs embedded wiring, and ensure the integrity of all infloor connections.
7. Clears collisions and back-up problems of the system, and troubleshoots and corrects vehicle and system errors.
8. Repairs and maintains various types of carts associated with the AGV system.
9. Welds various materials.
10. Repairs and troubleshoots other mechanical equipment and electronic components, including the batter charging station interface, ovens, fire life safety system interfaces and other low voltage systems.
11. Calculates cost estimates, attains quotes for products and services, and works with vendors to complete projects related to AGV systems.
12. Serves as the Distribution network's troubleshooting expert and technical resource during equipment escalations.
13. Assists with special projects and assignments within the classification.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
|
Experience:
The equivalent of one (1) year of full time experience in the maintenance of electrical and mechanical equipment.
Special Requirements:
Employees are required to obtain and maintain security clearance.
