Thank you for your interest in the Criminalist II recruitment, Examination #23-8524-01. Applicants for this position are required to submit responses to the following supplemental questions. Your completed responses to the supplemental questionnaire will be evaluated to determine your qualifications and must be completed properly in order to be given full consideration for the next phase in the selection process. Additionally, your responses will also be evaluated and used in the selection process in order to identify the best-qualified applicants.

Responses should be thorough and specific. A lack of detail and explanation in the supplemental questions and in your application may result in failure or disqualification for this position. Clarity of expression, content, experience, grammar, spelling, and the ability to follow instructions will be considered in the evaluation process. A resume will not be accepted as a substitute for properly completed responses.

Information provided in your responses to the supplemental questionnaire regarding your employment experiences must also be detailed in the Work Experience section of the application for this recruitment. Please be sure to list all employers and required information, on your application, especially if you are referencing those employers in your responses to the supplemental questions. The following questions will be used to help determines if you meet minimum and/or desirable qualifications. Education requirements: Do you possess a bachelor's degree in criminalistics or in an appropriate and relevant science such as chemistry, physics, or biochemistry from an accredited college or university?

Transcripts: A legible copy of transcripts is required (unofficial are acceptable) and must be received no later than one week after the filing deadline. Transcripts should include all required coursework and degree information as outlined on the announcement.

Experience requirements: Do you possess the equivalent of at least two (2) years of full-time experience in the class of Criminalist I in the Alameda County classified service or three (3) years of recent full-time experience as a Criminalist or Forensic Chemist performing laboratory work equivalent to that of a general criminalistics laboratory?

Crime Scene Processing Experience: Please describe any crime scene processing experience you have including documentation, collection and packaging of evidence, crime scene photography, 3-D laser scanning, crime scene reconstruction, and use of computer-aided design software programs.

When describing the experience, be sure to specify the names of the agency, job title, dates employed, and duties performed.
