Thank you for your interest in the position of Deputy Sheriff I (POST Academy Graduate), Examination #23-8602-01.  Applicants for this position are required to submit responses to the following supplemental questions.  Your completed responses to the supplemental questionnaire will be evaluated to further verify minimum qualifications.  Failure to answer these questions truthfully may result in disqualification from the examination process.

  1. You are currently enrolled in the Alameda County Sheriff's Office Recruit Training Academy.
  2. You have successfully completed a certified POST approved basic academy within three (3) years of the application date.
  3. You possess a valid POST recertification certificate.

The following special requirements are noted in the minimum qualifications:

Federal law and County policy requires that certain positions in the class of Deputy Sheriff I/II, which require a commercial driver's license and the performance of duties defined as "safety sensitive" are subject to post-offer/pre-placement/pre-duty, reasonable suspicion, post-accident, random, return-to-duty, and follow-up drug and alcohol testing.

A thorough background investigation will be made of all prospective Deputy Sheriffs.  A record of any felony conviction will result in disqualification.
