Thank you for your interest in the position of Auditor-Appraiser II. Your completed response to this supplemental questionnaire will be evaluated to determine your qualifications and must be completed properly in order to be given full consideration for the next phase in the selection process. Additionally, your responses will also be evaluated and used in the selection process in order to identify the best qualified applicants.

Responses should be specific, thorough and succinct. A lack of adequate detail in the supplemental questions and in your application may result in failure or disqualification for this recruitment. Clarity of expression, grammar, spelling and the ability to follow instructions will be considered in the evaluation process. A resume will not be accepted as a substitute for a thoroughly completed employment history and supplemental responses.

Information provided in your responses to the supplemental questionnaire regarding your employment experiences must also be detailed in the Work Experience section of the application for this recruitment. Applicants must be qualified to perform audits to be considered for the position. Please select how you meet the criteria listed below.                          

*Ensure that you have attached on the resume tab of your application your transcripts of your four-year degree from an accredited college or university, or verification of a license to practice as a Certified Public Accountant in the State of California. 

 

Possession of a bachelor's degree with a major in accounting from an accredited college or university.
Possession of a bachelor’s degree with a specialization in accounting that consist of either of the following: 18-semester units (or quarter equivalents) of accounting and/or auditing courses from an accredited college or university. OR 19-semester units, 16 of which must be in accounting and/or auditing courses from an accredited college or university, and three (3) semester units may be either business law or economic classes (Equivalent quarter units are acceptable).
Possession of a license to practice as a Certified Public Accountant in the State of California.
I do not possess any of the above requirements.

To be considered for this position, applicants must also have or be eligible for a California Appraiser's Certificate through one of the methods outlined in R&TC Sections 670 and 673.

Possession of a current, valid, permanent or an inactive permanent appraiser's certificate issued by the California State Board of Equalization.
Eligible for issuance of a temporary appraiser's certificate by the State Board of Equalization upon hire. A bachelor’s degree with a major in accounting or a bachelor’s degree with a specialization in accounting meets the educational requirement under R&TC Section 670 & 673 for issuance for a temporary appraiser's certificate.

In addition to meeting the above requirements applicants must also possess experience in one of the three options below.

Please choose the option that most accurately describes your qualifying work experience.

The equivalent of one (1) year of full-time experience in the classification of Auditor-Appraiser I or Accountant-Auditor in the Alameda County classified service. (Please note that eligibility for this option is restricted to Alameda County employees who are appointed through the civil service process.) Provisional, TAP, or SAN appointees must qualify under the remaining two options.
The equivalent of one (1) year of full-time experience in the office of a California Assessor or the office of the California State Board of Equalization at the level equivalent to Auditor-Appraiser II in the Alameda County classified service, which included the performance of R&TC, Section 469, audits and other audits of books and records and appraisals of business fixtures for ad valorem tax purposes; or
The equivalent of two (2) years of full-time professional job experience applying accounting/auditing procedures and the California Revenue and Taxation Code for records audit or business property appraisal for assessment purposes.
I do not possess any of the above requirements.
