There is an immediate position available for a Specialist Clerk I-II.

JOB DESCRIPTION

 

The Alameda County District Attorney's Office is recruiting for persons with legal education and/or experience to assist with the review, duplication and dissemination of discovery in criminal prosecutions.  Employees of the District Attorney’s Office are at-will employees who serve under appointment of the District Attorney.  County employment includes a comprehensive benefits package.  The job entails:

 

  •  Assembling, organizing, and preserving investigative and case materials;
  •  Collecting and compiling evidence sought by opposing parties;
  •  Accurately chronicling all discovery/evidence produced to the defense; and 
  •  Assisting attorneys with preparation for hearings and trials.

                                                   

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIRED SKILLS

 

  • Clean criminal history and ability to successfully pass a background examination and health history evaluation.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Fundamental knowledge of legal terminology, principles, proceedings and practices.
  • Ability to analyze a variety of legal documents, files and records.
  • Ability to follow instructions and policies as set by the District Attorney.
  • Ability to read and categorize voluminous legal documents and images.
  • Proficiency at word processing, Excel, and ability to navigate other computer programs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

PREFERED QUALIFICATION (at least two of three)

 

  • Paralegal certificate;
  • College degree;
  • Relevant work experience in the area of criminal law.

EXAMINATION COMPONENTS

Selection Plan

Applications will be screened for the most qualified candidates to participate in an oral interview.  Candidates who are selected for the interview will be notified by telephone.  Depending on the number of qualified applicants, a second interview may be required among the finalists for the position.
