At the Alameda County District Attorney's Office, we review and prosecute criminal violations committed in Alameda County, bring criminal and civil actions for environmental, consumer and other violations, protect and uphold the rights of victims, and serve our community in various innovative ways (such as restorative justice projects). The Alameda County District Attorney’s Office is comprised of approximately 150 attorneys, 60 inspectors, 30 Victim-Witness advocates and claim specialists, as well as a variety of administrative, finance, and communications professionals. Our jurisdiction covers over 800 square miles and our staff work in 9 offices located throughout the County.


We have six specialized divisions within the office:

Within the Criminal Prosecution Division, we have numerous specialized units dedicated to specific areas. Some of the units include: domestic violence, gangs, sexual assault, human trafficking, DNA/unsolved cases, truancy, identity theft, sexually violent predators, child abduction and more. These units are staffed by experienced, highly skilled prosecutors who are experts in their individual fields.

DESCRIPTION

POSITION


The Alameda County District Attorney is a leader in efforts to combat Human Trafficking.  In 2009, the Office created H.E.A.T. Watch, a 5-prong blueprint for communities to build their efforts to combat human trafficking.  The H.E.A.T. Watch Coordinator engages in outreach and coordination of community efforts, training, building collaborations and importantly, engaging in educating and sensitizing the community about human trafficking.

 

The H.E.A.T. Watch Assistant Coordinator will work closely with the H.E.A.T. Watch Coordinator, with the Head of the H.E.A.T. Prosecution Unit as well as with the District Attorney.  The Office currently has a grant with 18 partner organizations.  The H.E.A.T. Watch Assistant Coordinator will serve as a liaison with the partners to maximize performance on the grant.

 

DUTIES


The position requires a person who can multi-task and is organized.  The position will work closely with partner agencies, both government and non-government, working collaboratively through a grant to improve services for, interactions with and programs designed to improve the lives of minors who have been trafficked in the commercial sex trade.

 
The position requires an individual who has familiarity with or is ready to work in the field of combating human trafficking.  The position will provide important training to educate and sensitize the individual selected for the position about the dynamics of sex trafficking and other related areas of interest.


The position requires a person who has strong communication skills and can work with individuals with varied backgrounds.


The position will require the individual to coordinate progress reports from the various partners, as well as serve as a point of information and compliance with the requirements of the grant.

 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

The position is an entry level management position operating at a highly sophisticated level of engagement, responsibility, and productivity.  A four-year college degree is preferable; alternatively, prior employment history plus an AA degree can substitute for a degree.


 

Those with prior experience working in the field of combatting human trafficking and survivors of human trafficking are encouraged to apply.
