The attached drivers record to be used for the initial application process need not be the “certified document”. Before appointment to the position you may be asked to produce the "certified drivers record" issued by the California Department of Motor Vehicles.
THE COUNTY
Alameda County, located on the east side of San Francisco Bay, is California's seventh-largest county. The County employs 9,700 full-time employees and operates on an annual budget of $3.4 billion. THE POSITION
Under general supervision, to transport infants and minor children, juvenile detainees, and county wards by passenger car, van, bus, or other public transportation; to be responsible for their safety and care; and to perform related duties as required.
Positions in this classification are found in the Social Services Agency and the Probation Department. Most trips are within the Bay Area Counties; however, some assignments may be throughout the State of California. Transportation Workers are not assigned any counseling functions.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
In addition to meeting the minimum qualifications and knowledge and skills below, the ideal candidate will possess:
· A valid driver’s license and a safe driving record are required.
· Proven history of taking responsibility to ensure that assigned tasks are completed with care and attention to detail.
· Understanding of and a commitment to providing exceptional customer service.
· Demonstrated ability to prioritize, organize, plan and prepare for the successful completion of assignments.
· Conscientiousness in observing safety practices related to driving and vehicle inspection, and the ability to recognize potential hazards and a track record of taking action to correct them.
· Ability to set high standards for work product and takes effective action to ensure a high level of service.
· A desire to work with the targeted youth population in an appropriate and professional manner.
· Ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups.

This recruitment is to fill positions in the Social Services Agency and the Probation Department. The eligibility list resulting from this recruitment may also be used to fill hourly services-as-needed vacancies.
