THE POSITION:
The Human Resource Technician is a paraprofessional classification in the human resource series of job classes. Human Resource Technicians perform technical personnel administrative work. The successful candidate will be trained in technical human resource activities, and will perform these functions in support of professional staff. The Technicians may participate in a variety of tasks including but not limited to gathering and tabulating statistical human resource data, conducting initial research in various planning aspects of opening an exam or for other personnel programs or functions by gathering material from other agencies, reviewing questionnaires, scanning surveys for information, and examining history files.
They may conduct initial investigations for operating departments in areas such as occupational health complaints, alleged discrimination, grievances, and affirmative action compliance. Technician will answers routine questions and may prepares routine correspondence relating to County procedures, rules and regulations, job opportunities, salary information, benefits, memorandums of understanding, and examination scheduling for county employees and the general public. Technicians may assist in constructing written examination or interview questions and may perform a variety of other technical human resources functions.
THE VACANCIES:
Human Resources Technician is a countywide classification; positions in this class can be found in departments throughout Alameda County. This recruitment is to establish a countywide eligible list that can be used to fill vacancies in this classification during the life of the eligible list.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:
In addition to meeting the minimum qualifications listed below, the ideal candidate will be a detail-oriented, proactive individual with experience working in a Human Resource setting with:
§ A competency for appropriately following up and completing assignments and tasks, while paying close attention to detail and set processes;
§ A proven track record of consistently managing time and resources in a fast-paced environment to appropriately prioritize and complete identified goals and objectives;
§ A demonstrated history of identifying and understanding issues, problems, and opportunities; comparing data from different sources to draw conclusions; using effective approaches for choosing a course of action or developing appropriate solutions; taking action that is consistent with available facts, constraints, and probable consequences;
§ A superior command of both written and oral communication with experience interacting with various levels of management and the public, while concurrently demonstrating diplomacy, politeness and tact.;
§ A demonstrated ability to take initiative and work independently with confidence; and
§ A strong ability to be adaptable to changing situations and environments, with the capability to take instruction from multiple, senior-level staff members.
