The Alameda County Family Justice Center helps victims of intimate partner violence, child abuse, human trafficking, elder abuse and sexual assault who historically often sought help from a fragmented, disjointed system of agencies offering related, but uncoordinated services. The Alameda County Family Justice Center (ACFJC) now serves as the heart of a comprehensive service delivery system made up of over 100 public and private agency partners throughout the Bay Area, providing a gateway to safety, healing, and empowerment for victims of abuse. We advocate for and construct a future where there is zero tolerance for intimate partner violence, child abuse, sexual assault and exploitation and elder abuse.

DESCRIPTION

THE POSITION  

The Employment Services Coordinator’s primary responsibility is to assist clients of the ACFJC in obtaining gainful employment by identifying and addressing barriers to employment. This entails staying closely connected with partner agencies, employment related services, universities, local business, mentorship programs, and vocational training organizations.

The Client Empowerment Specialist will oversee STEP-UP 2 WORK, a program designed to empower survivors to take the importance step of financial independence so that they can begin to rebuild their lives and ultimately break the cycle of violence for not only themselves but for their children and families.

This position works closely and under the direct supervision of the ACFJC Associate Director who oversees the Empowerment Division.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Science, Public Health, or a related field

  • Experience Working in Direct Services

  • Experience working with employers, supportive employment programs and job training initiatives

  • Must have the ability to effectively interface and communicate with people from varying social, economic, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds

  • Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office Suites including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook are required

  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team to accomplish the work of ACFJC while exhibiting flexibility when interacting with clients, team members, and the community or ACFJC partners. 

  • Must be able to work in a dynamic environment, handle multiple deadlines with varying timelines

  • Proficient in English with excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to format, proofread and edit program materials

  • Must have valid state driver's license in good standing

  • Candidates will be required to pass a pre-employment background screening

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Recruit candidates from existing internal empowerment programs and through outreach to ACFJC onsite and offsite partners
  • Work with clients to overcome barriers to employment
  • Work with clients to develop employment goals
  • STEPUP 2 Work classroom instruction, presenting professionally, mock Interviews
  • Promote and market employment programs through partnerships with ACFJC service providers
  • Participate in job fairs, community related job events and special events
  • Develop flyers and other necessary program materials
  • Participate in client case management
  • Conduct pre and post individual and program assessments
  • Ensure accurate and timely data reporting for all programs through the implementation of ETO system to support grants and program funding requirements
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality and professionalism
  • Perform all duties will a trauma informed lens to meet client needs
  • Other duties as assigned
