Introduction
THIS IS A NEW ASSEMBLED EXAMINATION. The eligible list resulting from this examination will cancel any existing list and may last approximately one year, but can be extended.
Applications must be in the possession of the Human Resource Services Department by 5:00 p.m. on the Last Day for Filing.
Supplemental Questionnaire: A properly completed Supplemental Questionnaire must be submitted with each application. Applications and Supplemental Questionnaires must be in the possession of the Human Resource Services Department by 5:00 p.m. on the Last Day for Filing. Failure to submit the Supplemental Questionnaire will result in disqualification.

DESCRIPTION
THE POSITION
Under close supervision, to perform operational and policy
research assignments; to assist various departmental administrative personnel
by relieving them of administrative detail, to act as liaison with
administrative personnel; and to do related work as required.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
Additionally, the ideal candidate will be:

Able to perform technical and professional analysis express a
demonstrated competence and interest in planning, designing, and conducting
operational, policy and programmatic studies;

analysis and reporting using technology; and a demonstrated interest in keeping
up with current developments and trends in the field of public service;

dynamic teams contributing successfully to the completion of goals and
objectives aligned with the mission, vision and values of the Agency;

gather, compile, and analyze data, to make sound recommendations;

Someone with strong written and oral communication skills, and
willing to interact effectively with diverse stakeholders including
policymakers, legislative aides, program directors, contractors, staff, and the
public;

A planner and organizer with the ability to prioritize tasks, work
on multiple projects simultaneously, and establish a course of action to ensure
that work is completed efficiently; and
·
Someone willing to represent the Agency professionally and earning
the trust and respect of others.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Possession of a bachelor’s degree from an
accredited four-year college or university (180 quarter units or 120 semester
units) with major coursework in business or public administration, or a field
related to the work.
NOTE: The Civil Service Commission may modify the
above Minimum Qualifications in the announcement of an examination.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
NOTE: The most suitably qualified candidates will
possess the following competencies:
Knowledge of:
• Principles and practices of operational, policy and programmatic research and
analysis.
• Principles of public administration.
• Practices and techniques of administrative and statistical analysis and
report preparation.
• Computer applications and hardware and software related to the work.
• Office administrative practices and procedures, including records management
and the operation of standard office equipment.
EXAMINATION COMPONENTS
THE EXAMINATION WILL CONSIST OF THE FOLLOWING STEPS:
1) A review of candidates' applications to verify
possession of minimum requirements. Those candidates who possess the minimum
requirements for the class will move on to the next step in the examination
process.
2) A review of candidates’ Supplemental Questionnaires
to select the best qualified applicants to continue in the process.
3) An oral interview which will be weighted as 100% of
the candidate's final examination score. The oral interview may contain
situational exercises.
CANDIDATES MUST ATTAIN A QUALIFYING RATING ON EACH PORTION OF THIS
EXAMINATION.
