THE POSITION

We are filling multiple management positions overseeing varying infrastructure technologies. These technical areas of responsibility can include network; servers; unified communications; Cloud-based services; database; GIS; Enterprise Tools Administration; DevOps; mainframe; information security; or endpoint management.


IDEAL CANDIDATE

In addition to meeting the minimum qualifications the ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent interpersonal communication, customer service, program administration, project management, information security, the ability to analyze and problem solve, and leadership disposition, aligning performance with success.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Either I

The equivalent of two years of full-time experience in the class of Infrastructure Services Engineer or an equivalent higher-level class in the Alameda County classified service supervising technical staff. 

Or II

The equivalent of five years of full-time increasingly responsible infrastructure experience (in one or more of the areas described in the Description section) that included documentation and project management and at least three years of direct supervision and workload management of technical staff.  (Possession of a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field from an accredited college or university may be substituted for one year of technical experience.)

NOTE:  The Civil Service Commission may modify the above Minimum Qualifications in the announcement of an examination.

EXAMINATION COMPONENTS

THE EXAMINATION WILL CONSIST OF THE FOLLOWING STEPS:

  1. A review of applicants' applications to verify possession of minimum requirements. Those candidates who possess the minimum requirements for the class will move on to the next step in the examination process.
  2. A review of candidates’ Supplemental Questionnaires to select the best qualified applicants to continue in the process.
  3. An oral interview which will be weighted as 100% of the candidate's final examination score. The oral interview may contain situational exercises.

CANDIDATES MUST ATTAIN A QUALIFYING RATING ON EACH PORTION OF THIS EXAMINATION.
