THIS IS A NEW ASSEMBLED
EXAMINATION. The eligible list resulting from this examination will cancel
any existing list and may last approximately one year but can be extended.
Supplemental Questionnaire: A
properly completed Supplemental Questionnaire must be submitted with each
application. Applications and Supplemental Questionnaires must be in the
possession of the Human Resource Services Department by 5:00 p.m. on the Last
Day for Filing. Failure to submit the Supplemental Questionnaire will result in
disqualification.

THE POSITION
Under general supervision, orders, issues, delivers, receives and
warehouses supplies and equipment; maintains manual and computerized inventory
records regarding minimum stock levels and rates of usage; moves furniture,
office supplies and equipment within or between a County agency or department.
May operate a variety of stock or warehouse moving equipment or be responsible
for an Agency Copy Center; performs other related duties as required.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
In addition to meeting the minimum qualifications listed below, the ideal
candidate will possess the following critical attributes:
§ Proven experience in a warehouse environment utilizing hand tools, power tools, dollies, hand trucks, baler, compactors, and forklifts. Additionally, demonstrated expertise in moving, assembling and disassembling modular cubicles and workstations is highly desired.
§ The ability
to learn new tasks and work techniques and the ability to immediately apply
these newly learned practices to daily tasks.
§ Excellent
communication skills with the ability to assist staff and external customers
with information pertaining to equipment needs, repairs, pick up of materials
and distribution of supplies.
§ The ability
to accurately complete work and tasks while paying close attention to all
details.
§ The ability
to work effectively with team members and establish good working relationships
with personnel within other county departments to ensure that tasks are
completed in a timely manner.
§ Flexibility
as an individual who quickly adapts to changes in work environment and work
assignments and effectively works through obstacles and challenges.
§ The ability
to resolve work issues in a calm manner while paying close attention to
established work deadlines.
VACANCIES
The current vacancies are within the Social Services Agency, General Services Agency, Information Technology Department, and Alameda County Health. However, the eligible list resulting from this recruitment may be used by any department needing to fill a vacancy.
Either
I
Experience:
The equivalent of one year of full-time experience in the class of Supply Clerk
I or an equivalent or higher level class in the Alameda County classified
service. (Non-classified includes District Attorney’s Office, Hospital
Authority, and the Consolidated Courts.)
Or II
Experience:
The equivalent of one year full-time experience in receiving, storing, and
issuing of supplies, or in clerical work involving stock or equipment inventory
control or fiscal recordkeeping.
License:
Possession of a valid California Motor Vehicle Operator’s license.
NOTE: The Civil Service
Commission may modify the above Minimum Qualifications in the announcement of
an examination.
The most suitably qualified candidates will possess the
following competencies:
Knowledge of:

Techniques of receiving, storing, and issuing supplies.

Stacking and inventory control systems.

Workplace Safety techniques.

Characteristics of various commodities.
§
Operation of warehouse equipment.
§
Basic computer data entry functions and records storage;
online order entry.

Computer navigation and common internet search tools.

Basic alpha and numeric filing system.

Basic mathematical computations including addition,
subtraction, multiplication, division and percentages.
Ability to:
§
Compute basic mathematical problems.

Understand and follow written and oral instructions.

Clear verbal and written communication.

Organize and prioritize duties to meet deadlines.
§
Interact courteously with co-workers and the public.
§
Work independently with minimal supervision.
§
Handle and manipulate heavy/bulky objects up to 75 lbs.

Move furniture, office equipment and other heavy objects.

Keep complex and detailed records.
§
Make decisions using good judgment.

Assign training, monitor and review work when in lead
capacity.

Operate a variety of stock or warehouse moving equipment
when part of assignment.

Drive a motor vehicle.

Operate, assemble and maintain mechanical equipment.
§ Use of basic hand tools.
The examination will consist of the following steps:
1.
A review of applicant's application
and supplemental questionnaire to verify possession of minimum
requirements. Those candidates who possess the minimum requirements for
the class will move on to the next step in the examination process.
2.
A virtual written examination that will be weighted as
pass/fail.
3.
A virtual oral interview which will be weighted
as 100% of the candidate's final examination score. The oral
interview may contain situational exercises.
Candidates must attain a
qualifying rating on each portion of this examination.
