Medical Coverage Dental Coverage Pharmacy Coverage
We offer multiple plan options through Anthem with options to add spouses and/or eligible dependents. We offer multiple dental plans through Cigna. Plan options offer no-cost cleanings and x-rays and coverage for orthodontic services. Prescription drug coverage is administered by CVS Caremark. There is a 4-tier copay structure that allows you to choose which coverage option works best for you or your family.
Health Enhancement Program (HEP) Employee Assistance Program Family and Medical Leave Entitlements
Encourages employees and their enrolled family members to take charge of their health and their health care by providing guidelines to follow for preventive and chronic care management. By signing up for and fulfilling all HEP requirements, you can save dollars in premiums and become eligible for a waiver of an annual in- network deductible. The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is a voluntary program which can help employees and their family members obtain professional support in dealing with personal, emotional, family, or health problems. The specific EAP provider may vary by state agency. We understand employees may find themselves in need of time off from work to care for themselves or someone they love. Our generous leave entitlements give employees the gift of time when they need it most, without worrying about the security of their job. We offer job-protected family and medical leave, including those for personal medical leave, caregiver leave, bonding leave, military family leave, and organ/bone marrow donation leave. Additionally, employees may be eligible to seek income replacement benefits through the CT Paid Leave Authority.

*A new hire is placed in Tier IV unless they were previously employed by the State and did not have a permanent break in service. In that case they shall be returned to their previous plan.
Hazardous Duty - Dependent upon your role (job classification).
Supplemental Retirement Benefits for Retirement may include: 457 Plan and 403(B) - voluntary retirement plans are defined contribution plans that allow you to save at a rate you choose and make investments you select.
 
 
Flex Spending Voluntary Life Insurance Public Student Loan Forgiveness
Healthcare: Save on eligible expenses, including: medical/dental office visit copays; dental/orthodontic care services; prescription and vaccinations; eye exams, glasses, and lenses.

Dependent Care: Preschool, before/after school programs, childcare, elder care.

Parking/Commuter/Transit: Save on work-related transportation, including ride sharing.
Life Insurance: Up to $500,000 for eligible active employees who work at least 17.5h/week and enrolled in the Basic Group Life Insurance. State of CT is an eligible Public Student Loan Forgiveness employer, meaning you may be eligible to have qualifying student loans forgiven after 10 years of service.
 Long-Term Disability Insurance* Short Term Disability Insurance* Credit Union
Long-Term Disability: New employees who enroll during the first 60 days of employment can obtain guaranteed coverage.  If you waive participation and choose to enroll after the 60-day period, you will be subject to evidence of insurability guidelines. Disability coverage delivers a percentage of your income each month for as long as you remain disabled, or until you reach your Social Security Full Retirement Age, whichever comes sooner.  If your disability occurs at age 63 or later, your payments may be reduced. Benefits from this plan are tax free. Premium payments can be made via payroll deduction.

Short Term Disability: First 90 days: guaranteed coverage for up to 60% of their salary to a maximum of $4,000 in monthly disability benefits. You will not have to provide proof of good health and answer qualifying health questions to be eligible for the guaranteed coverage amount.

After initial 90 days:  guaranteed coverage is up to 60% of their salary to a maximum of $500 in monthly disability benefits.

Anytime:  Employees can apply for coverage up to 60% of their salary up to a $6,500 monthly disability benefit at any time with standard qualifying health questions.

State of Connecticut employees who are members of a collective bargaining unit may be eligible to receive tuition reimbursement from union funds. Managerial or confidential employees may be eligible to receive tuition reimbursement from the biennial state budget. Employees may be eligible for mileage reimbursement at the Federal reimbursement rate for the use of privately owned automobiles when authorized as advantageous to the Government.

Many agencies offer free parking for work on-site.

Vacation/Personal/Sick Accruals Holidays Hybrid/Telework Opportunities
Vacation, Personal, and Sick Accruals are standard for new employees to state service and grow after time with the state.

  • Eligible employees are granted 3 Personal Days per calendar year (Part-time employees receive Personal Days pro-rated to their service based on Collective Bargaining Unit).
  • Sick and vacation leave accruals vary based on Collective Bargaining Unit and service time.
