In the Department of Public Health, Preventable Disease Section this class is accountable for acting as supervisor of a staff engaged in the inspection, identification, and correction of problems concerning public drinking water supplies, for planning a safe, adequate supply of drinking water and enforcing compliance with state/federal laws and regulations.
Receives general direction from an employee of higher grade.
Supervises environmental engineers, sanitarians, and other staff as assigned.
Nine (9) years of experience in major environmental program planning, analysis, and policy development concerning protection of water supplies or planning for water supplies and water resources.
College training in civil engineering, environmental engineering, or public health may be substituted for the General Experience on the basis of fifteen (15) semester hours equalling one-half (1/2) year of experience to a maximum of four (4) years for a Bachelor's degree.
Incumbents in this class may be required to travel.
