PURPOSE OF JOB CLASS (NATURE OF WORK)
This class is accountable for independently performing a full range of tasks involved in shaving and cutting the hair of clients/patients.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Works under the general supervision of an employee of higher grade.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED
May lead/supervise lower level employees as assigned.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
- Cuts hair and shaves clients/patients in the barber shop and/or on the wards;
- Sharpens, adjusts, cleans and sterilizes razors, clippers, scissors and other equipment;
- Keeps records of all barber services provided to clients/patients;
- Requisitions and maintains stock of barber supplies;
- Cleans work area;
- Performs related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - GENERAL EXPERIENCE
Possession of a current Master Barber license issued by the Department of Public Health.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Incumbents may be exposed to communicable diseases and to risk of injury from clients/patients.
