In the Department of Aging and Disability Services this class is accountable for independently performing a full range of tasks in the area of production of Braille educational, vocational and vocational books and materials for clients served by the Department.
This is a technical working level classification involving the Brailling of materials using a Braillewriter, devices to produce raised line graphs and charts and computers. It also involves coordination with volunteer Braille production programs and instruction of volunteers in producing materials.
May supervise lower level staff as assigned. Functionally supervises volunteers in the production of Braille materials.
One (1) year of the General Experience must have involved translation of print to Braille and Braille to print for both alpha and numeric information including hands-on production of Braille materials using various equipment (including computers) and methodologies (including Nemeth Code).
