PURPOSE OF JOB CLASS (NATURE OF WORK)

In the Department of Consumer Protection this class is accountable for ensuring the integrity of televised lottery drawings.

GUIDELINES FOR JOB CLASS USE

  • Positions established for this classification will be established on a part-time basis.
  • The duration of each scheduled shift will be no more than four hours. An average scheduled work week will be 20 hours.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED

Works under the general supervision of an employee of higher grade.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

  • Performs independent verification of televised lottery drawings, at drawing site; 
  • Ensures the integrity of established lottery program guidelines; 
  • Weighs and inspects lottery balls to ensure integrity; 
  • Observes and ensures chain of custody of lottery balls prior to, during and proceeding lottery drawings; 
  • Verifies winning numbers; 
  • Assists with background checks as necessary; 
  • Completes related paperwork.

  • Knowledge of
    • physical security systems, techniques and procedures; 
    • relevant agency policies and procedures; 
    • lottery rules and regulations applicable to lottery drawings;

    • apply good judgment and discretion; 
    • utilize computer software.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - GENERAL EXPERIENCE

One (1) year of experience in the enforcement of security regulations.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Incumbents in this class may be required to possess and maintain a valid Motor Vehicle Operator's license.
  • Incumbents may be required to travel.

CHARACTER REQUIREMENTS

In addition to the checking of references and of facts stated in the application, a thorough background investigation of each candidate will be made before persons are certified for appointment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Incumbents must have general good health and retain sufficient visual and auditory acuity required to perform all the duties of the class.

COMPENSATION GUIDELINES

In accordance with applicable collective bargaining agreement's compensation guidelines.
