PURPOSE OF JOB CLASS (NATURE OF WORK)
In the Department of Correction this class is accountable for directing all marketing service for Correctional Enterprises, including negotiating and preparing bids on all major contracts, market development and forecasting, sales, customer services and pricing.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Receives administrative direction from the Director of Correctional Enterprises.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED
Directs assigned staff.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
- Directs staff and operations of Correctional Enterprises marketing services;
- Negotiates product sales contracts and maintains liaison with account representatives to assure provision of customer services and continued market development;
- Organizes and directs marketing research studies, analyzing data to determine areas of potential product use and sales growth;
- Conducts pricing surveys and develops competitive pricing structures;
- Supervises design, development and distribution of appropriate sales and promotional materials including brochures and catalogs;
- Develops and implements marketing programs designed to promote sales of each product line;
- Develops and implements system to expedite receipt, pricing and processing of customer orders including provision for delivery status information on request;
- Analyzes growth trends sales and production data and prepares and submits semi-annual sales forecasts;
- Leads the recruitment and hiring of staff, including outreach, interview and selection;
- Performs related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - GENERAL EXPERIENCE
Seven (7) years of experience in industrial production control, marketing, sales or customer service relations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - SPECIAL EXPERIENCE
One (1) year of the General Experience must have been in a supervisory capacity.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - SUBSTITUTIONS ALLOWED
College training may be substituted for the General Experience on the basis of fifteen (15) semester hours equalling one half (1/2) year of experience to a maximum of four (4) years for a Bachelor's degree.
