PURPOSE OF JOB CLASS (NATURE OF WORK)

In the Office of Consumer Counsel this class is accountable for directing operations and acts as the advocate for consumer interests in all matters which may be considered in any federal or state regulatory or judicial proceedings or in which matters affecting utility services in this state may be involved.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED

Supervises staff assigned to the Office of Consumer Counsel.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

  • Acts as the advocate for consumer interests in all matters which may affect Connecticut consumers with respect to public service companies; 
  • May appear and participate in any regulatory of judicial proceedings, federal or state, in which such interests of Connecticut consumers may be involved, or in which matters affecting utility services in this state may be involved; 
  • Performs related duties as required.

APPOINTMENT

Shall be an elector of this state, appointed by the Governor with the advice and consent of either House of the General Assembly as provided by Section 2 (c) of Public Act No. 88-22.
