PURPOSE OF JOB CLASS (NATURE OF WORK)
In a state agency this class is accountable for supervising employees and activities of a large data entry installation with a minimum of twenty (20) full time employees.
GUIDELINES FOR JOB CLASS USE
Incumbents must perform in one of the following capacities:
- Acting as the supervisor of all data entry activities within a large central data entry environment.
- In a multi-shift environment, plans work, scheduling, hiring and other supervisory responsibilities for all shifts.
- Acting as the supervisor of a central installation with additional responsibility for supervision of employees at remote locations, having responsibility for directing all activities (i.e. planning, scheduling and procedures).
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Works under the general direction of an employee of higher grade.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED
Supervises employees performing data entry operations and related functions.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
- Supervises employees in operation of and functions related to data entry equipment;
- Plans and prepares production schedules;
- Assigns work;
- Keeps time and production records;
- Evaluates, develops, establishes and implements new methods and procedures;
- Ensures effective utilization and maintenance of equipment;
- Monitors and initiates changes in work flow in order to provide most efficient service;
- Sets up or revises screen/job format or new applications as required;
- Reviews work for accuracy;
- Establishes training procedures and trains employees in equipment operation, procedures and related functions;
- Ensures efficiency and productivity of work performed;
- Supervises the operation of other data entry or related equipment and operates equipment as required;
- Performs related duties as required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY
- Considerable knowledge of
- applications, functions and procedures related to area and specific equipment;
- electronic data processing including storage and/or retrieval and input and/or output media;
- Considerable

- skill in operating data entry and related equipment;
- Ability to maintain records;
- Supervisory ability.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - GENERAL EXPERIENCE
Four (4) years of experience in data entry operations above the trainee level.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - SPECIAL EXPERIENCE
Two (2) years of the General Experience must have been at the level of a Data Entry Supervisor 1 or its equivalent.
