PURPOSE OF JOB CLASS (NATURE OF WORK)
This class is accountable for supervising a large, central duplicating operation (considering volume, numbers supervised and complexity).
GUIDELINES FOR JOB CLASS USE
Supervises a large staff of duplicating service personnel (6 or more workers) involved in duplicating operations.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Receives general direction from an employee of higher grade.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED
Supervises an assigned technical staff.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
- Schedules, assigns, oversees and reviews the work of staff;
- Provides staff training and assistance;
- Conducts performance evaluations;
- Determines priorities and plans unit work;
- Establishes and maintains unit procedures;
- Develops or makes recommendations on the development of policies and standards;
- Acts as liaison with other operating units, agencies and outside officials regarding unit policies and procedures;
- Prepares reports and correspondence;
- Aids users in planning economical production of forms, booklets, and other duplicating work orders;
- Makes recommendations on purchases;
- Assures proper maintenance of equipment;
- May estimate costs of runs;
- May supervise a check processing operation and its related duties;
- Performs related duties as required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY
- Considerable knowledge of duplicating processes and materials including papers, inks, chemicals and camera processes;
- Knowledge of office practices and procedures;

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - GENERAL EXPERIENCE
Four (4) years of experience in the operation, adjustment and maintenance of duplicating equipment.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Incumbents in this class must have adequate physical strength, stamina, physical agility and visual and auditory acuity, and must maintain such physical fitness as to be able to perform the duties.
- A physical examination may be required.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Incumbents may be required to lift moderate weight; may be exposed to noise from duplicating equipment.
