PURPOSE OF JOB CLASS (NATURE OF WORK)
In the Department of
Social Services this class is accountable for directing the Quality Assurance
program designed to monitor the delivery of public assistance benefits and
payments.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Receives administrative
direction from the Social Services Director of Quality Assurance or other administrative
official of higher grade.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED
Directs staff of unit.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
-
Directs staff and
operations of Quality Assurance unit;
- Coordinates, plans, and
manages unit activities;
- Formulates program goals
and objectives;
- Develops or assist in
development of related policy;
- Interprets and
administers pertinent laws;
- Evaluates staff;
- Prepares or assists in
preparation of unit budget;
- Maintain contacts with
individuals both within and outside of unit who might impact program
activities;
- Prepares reports for
unit and for federal government regarding quality assurance findings and
compliance with regulations;
- Leads the recruitment and
hiring of staff, including outreach, interview and selection;
- Performs related duties
as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - GENERAL EXPERIENCE
Eight (8) years of
professional experience in the monitoring of social services programs.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - SPECIAL EXPERIENCE
One (1) year of
experience in a supervisory capacity in a public assistance quality assurance
program.
NOTE: For state employees
this experience is interpreted at the level of a Quality Control Supervisor.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - SUBSTITUTIONS ALLOWED
- College training may be
substituted for the General Experience on the basis of fifteen (15) semester
hours equalling one half (1/2) year of experience to a maximum of four (4)
years for a Bachelor's degree.
- A Master's degree in a
closely related field may be substituted for one (1) additional year of the
General Experience.
