PURPOSE OF JOB CLASS (NATURE OF WORK)
In the Department of Social Services this class is accountable for directing programs and service delivery within a designated regional area.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Receives executive direction from the Commissioner.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED
Directs staff of a regional program and service delivery area.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
- Directs staff and operations of the region to ensure compliance with and uniformity in application of departmental policy, federal and state statutes and legal mandates and internal management directives;
- Coordinates regional managers, staff, resources and interaction with community to promote comprehensive regional service delivery;
- Develops and implements regional plans, policies and budgets;
- Interacts directly or oversees interaction with community groups and representatives of other state agencies to coordinate services;
- Represents department at regional and state functions as required;
- Leads the recruitment and hiring of staff, including outreach, interview and selection;
- Performs related duties as required.
APPOINTMENT
In accordance with Public Act 95-293 and Section 17b-6(a) of the Connecticut General Statutes there shall be a regional administrator in the unclassified service for each of uniform regional service delivery areas to oversee and coordinate programs and services within the region.
