In the Office of the State Comptroller this class is responsible for supervising the auditing and processing functions of the payroll system.
This class can be used in the following ways:
- In the Payroll Services Division, for those responsible for supervising staff performing auditing and processing functions.
- In the CORE-CT Payroll Module Unit to support complex statewide payroll processes in both the production and testing environments.
Receives general direction from an employee of higher grade.
Supervises lower level employees as assigned.
- Supervises accurate and timely processing of payrolls and payroll generated payments within parameters of payroll cycle;
- Reviews, analyzes and recommends procedures and systems to enhance operations of payroll system;
- Implements system modifications and improvements to meet new requirements;
- Interacts with agency payroll staff, consultants and non-payroll system professional and technical staff involved in systems and applications development;
- Reviews training manuals, training programs and procedural manuals dealing with payroll processing;
- Investigates problems within payroll processing system;
- Identifies and implements corrective actions;
- Coordinates workflow among agencies and units involved in payroll processing;
- Interprets and applies complex payroll policies and procedures;
- Reviews validation error reports and directs corrective actions;
- Reconciles and balances reports;
- Trains staff in complex operations of payroll system functions;
- Advises agency payroll staff on system and procedures;
- Performs related duties as required.
CORE-CT PAYROLL MODULE UNIT:
- Processes statewide production payroll;
- Monitors statewide payroll processing to identify, analyze and resolve system related errors;
- Supports backend payroll processes that integrate with related CORE-CT modules;
- Maintains configuration and code data; processes payroll in test environments;
- Performs related duties as required.
Seven (7) years of experience in the processing of a large, complex payroll.
