In the Departments of Mental Health and Addiction Services and Developmental Services this class is accountable for directing a clinical division, a clinical discipline or a clinical program within a specified geographic area.
This class may be used in the following ways:
- In a hospital or region responsible for multiple units.
- In a hospital responsible for a Quality Compliance and Regulatory Program.
- In a community program such as Mobile Crisis or Assertive Community Treatment Program that functions on a multi-shift, seven (7) day per week basis.
- In a facility or Local Mental Health Authority responsible for the operations of a clinical program or a clinical discipline. Clinical disciplines include Social Work, Nursing, Specialty Services and Case Management.
- In the Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services, Office of the Commissioner, this class may be used as an assistant to a higher level manager responsible for statewide clinical programs.
Receives administrative direction from an employee of higher level.
Directly supervises professional and paraprofessional clinical program staff.
Four (4) years of professional experience in behavioral health care and a Master’s degree in a clinical discipline, public health administration, health care administration or hospital administration.
Two (2) years of the General Experience must have been supervising professional staff.
NOTE: For state employees this experience is interpreted at the level of a Behavioral Health Unit Supervisor, Developmental Services Supervisor of Case Management, Nurse Supervisor or Supervising Clinician.
Department of Developmental Services: Incumbents in this class may be required to maintain the appropriate current license for clinical social work, marital and family therapist, professional counselor, registered nurse or psychologist.
Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services: Incumbents in this class must maintain the appropriate current license for clinical social work, marital and family therapist, professional counselor, registered nurse, psychologist or alcohol and drug counselor.
